American NOAA satellites · GOES-East and GOES-West
GOES-East focuses on the Americas and Atlantic; GOES-West on the western Americas and Pacific. Available NASA GIBS channels include GeoColor, infrared and visible imagery, according to the provider catalogue. The timeline shows the available image observation time.
Worldwide satellite coverage by location
The main view starts over Greece and Europe. For other locations, the widget uses Meteosat, the Indian Ocean service, NOAA GOES-East/West or JMA Himawari imagery through NASA GIBS, according to the available viewing footprint. Choose visible, infrared or the RGB products supplied for that area. Geostationary imagery has limited polar coverage.
The world composite uses the EUMETSAT Geo Ring product, whose three-hour cadence and publication delay differ from regional imagery. Always read the displayed observation time; missing imagery does not mean clear skies.

Visible, infrared and RGB: which channel should I use?

| Visual / VIS 0.6 μm | Reflected sunlight. Detailed daytime clouds; darkness at night is expected. |
| Infrared / IR 10.5 μm | Thermal radiation from the surface and clouds, day and night. Cold cloud tops are not a ground rainfall measurement. |
| Geo Colour / True Colour | Composite overview of clouds and the surface. True colour depends on daylight. |
| Fog / Low Clouds | Composite intended to help distinguish fog and low clouds; read the selected product guidance. |
| Dust / Ash / Snow RGB | Specialised composites for dust, possible volcanic ash and snow cover. Colours have different meanings across channels. |
