Compare the same GFS Global model through Open-Meteo, with a common run and period start. Amounts are forecast snowfall in cm, not measured snow depth on the ground.

How to read the ranking

We use existing catalogue points, which may be in a village or at a different elevation from the pistes. Each row shows the point elevation. The order includes only points with complete hourly coverage and is not a ranking of the best skiing conditions. Models and different runs are never summed.

Downloads are attempted every six hours when the source permits. Every window begins at the displayed time. Missing values are excluded; zero means complete data with no forecast amount. Forecasts older than 12 hours are excluded.

Snowfall reports, measured depth and signals under review are shown separately. The network has partial geographical coverage; an empty list does not mean it is not snowing.

Station data sources and licenses

Times are UTC. Freshness is checked per measurement. A snow report does not automatically provide an amount; subzero temperature with precipitation does not confirm precipitation phase. Rainfall mm are never converted to snowfall cm.

Snowfall forecast or snow depth?

A 24, 48 or 72-hour snowfall forecast estimates new snow during that period. Measured snow depth is the snow already on the ground at a station, with its own observation time. These quantities are shown separately.

Where is it snowing now?

Use the snowfall reports section for recent reports from available stations. It is not a complete map of snowfall worldwide. For a specific ski resort, open its local forecast below and check the point elevation and update time.
